合谷 (Hégū), L.I.-4, means "Junction Valley", describing the anatomy where the point is found. Behind every point number is a Chinese character that maps to location, function, or classical theory. This workbook grew out of a deep curiosity for those characters, and the joy of discovering how much they can teach.It covers all 361 classical acupuncture points across the fourteen channels, with stroke order diagrams for each character and guided practice rows for writing complete point names. Each entry also includes space to record the point's location, indications, or any personal notes, making it a study companion as much as a writing workbook.The 361 points draw from only 324 unique characters, listed at the back and organized by radical and by conceptual theme, e.g. body geography, natural elements, architecture, and more.The point name translations throughout this workbook were developed in collaboration with Dr. David Chan, L.Ac., whose deep study of the acupuncture points enriched many of the entries.No prior knowledge of Chinese is required, only curiosity about what the characters have to say.
